Mweya Safari Lodge A
special smile meets you at Mweya Safari Lodge as does a stunning view of

Located some 470 km from Kampala, in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Mweya Safari Lodge provides a great starting point for a memorable safari into this wilderness, which is a sanctuary and home to hundreds of elephant, buffalo, hippos, leopards, Uganda Kob and bush buck and the tree climbing lions. Mweya Safari Lodge is a full facility lodge - thirty eight double rooms, six single rooms, two suites and a Luxurious Royal Cottage, where Queen Elizabeth II stayed in 1954. All the rooms have attached bathrooms and private balconies which overlook either the Kazinga channel or Lake Edward. The suites and the Royal Cottage are fully air-conditioned.
The Kazinga Channel Restaurant offers
international cuisine, an excellent a la carte menu, a buffet dinner and
often a barbecue on Saturday nights.
Kibale Tented Camp Accommodation is Full-Board in seven fully furnished Selous tents comprising private verandah, twin bedroom, dressing room and ensuite shower and toilet. The camp is set amongst a forested area which attracts a host of butterflies, birdlife and small primates. Our camp staff have cut and maintained a small trail around the camp environs where it is possible to take a short nature walk. Activities in and around Kibale Forest: One of the most recently gazetted National Parks, Kibale Forest boasts 12 species of primates (including habituated chimpanzees), 325 species of birds and over 144 species of butterflies. Although a mature tropical rainforest, the range of altitude has created a diversity in vegetation to include areas of bush grassland, swamp and colonizing forest. Guided forest walks may be arranged locally at the National Park Office at Kanyanchu.
The nearby Bigodi Wetland
Sanctuary or "Home of the Great Blue Turacos" offers guided
board walks around the Magombe Swamp. The sanctuary covers an area
approximately 3km2 from the Kibale National Park boundary to its
intersection with the Dura River. The swamp is home to a wide range of
Flora and Fauna including Primates, Mammals, and 138+ species of birds.
Also available are tree houses for bird watching.
Lake Mburo Tented Camp Activities in Lake Mburo National Park : Game driving in Lake Mburo offers particularly picturesque game viewing with the Park’s mixture of savannah, acacia woodlands, grassy valleys, rocky outcrops, swamps, lakes and rolling hills. Herds of impala (found nowhere else in Uganda), buffalo and zebra, plus waterbuck and eland are amongst the variety of wildlife to be seen. Birders will enjoy the Park’s 310 recorded water and dry land species.
Visitors may arrange a full or half-day walking
safari at the Rwonyo Park headquarters, accompanied by a guide and armed
ranger. The Park offers a self-guided nature trail and Interpretation
Centre for visitors to learn about the park, its wildlife and
ecosystems.
Sambiya River Lodge The park offers stupendous view of the dramatic waterfalls of the Nile River which plunge 45 metres through a narrow 6 meter boulders. Sambiya River Lodge's unique charm is in the atmosphere of intimacy provided to the guests. The twenty thatched cottages include either one or two bedrooms with twin or double beds. Each of the 26 bedrooms has its own private bathroom facilities as well as a veranda from which guests can relax and enjoy the tranquility of Africa. Service is friendly and unobtrusive. The staff are proud of their skills and are pleased to be of service.
The Lodge can provide you with a
comfortable four wheel drive vehicle to explore the area. Travel across
the Nile to the North Bank for a game drive through the rare Borassus
palm forest and cross rolling savannah as well as visiting the dramatic
Nyamsika Plateau view point.
Take a cruise on the Nile to the renowned
Falls and view the abundance of hippo, crocodile, Cape Buffalo, elephant
and rare species of birds, including the shoe bill stork. Track
Chimpanzees on foot in the Rabongo and Pabidi Forests or arrange a
fishing expedition to the Nile.
Volcanoes Camp
This is a simple mobile camp with basic
facilities. A permanent camp is under construction. The camp has
comfortable tents with their own private facilities. It is a special
place from which to savor the atmosphere of the Impenetrable Forest.
Access is via Kayonza airstrip - (an hour and half from Entebbe - or a
day’s drive from Kampala) or for larger planes via the tarmac airstrip
at Kisoro or via Ishasha.
