Nile's beauty perfected! Marvel at the Nile,
compressing from 50 meters to squeeze through a 6 metre canyon
dropping 40 metres with a thunderous roar creating a beautiful
rainbow, a plume of spray and the best thing that happened to
the Nile..."the Murchison Falls". Return for dinner
and overnight stay at Sambiya River Lodge.
Day 2: Proceed for a forest walk in Pabidi Forest. Primates resident
in this forest include l' hoestes, red colobus, blues, red
tailed monkeys and gray cheeked mangabeys. The guide will
provide detailed explanations, not only about primates, but also
on all the forest flora and fauna and will ensure that our walk
is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for
birdwatching and for seeing primates at close quarters. After a
picnic lunch, proceed to cross over the northern bank. Spend the
rest of the day relaxing by the beautiful free-form swimming
pool. The temperature cools towards the end of that afternoon
and this is the ideal time to go for another game drive. Return
in time for a refreshing sundowner as you unwind and watch the
sun slip slowly below the Blue Mountains of Congo. Dinner and
overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Early morning game drive on the northern Bank.
Your guide
will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild's
giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck,
hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. After a packed lunch
picnic, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to
the base of the falls stopping just tens of metres from the
"Devil's Cauldron". En-route, marvel at the toothsome
hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see
elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also a zone of many
bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican
bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill
stork. After taking shots of photogenic Murchison Falls, return
to Paraa Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: All day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant
countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms.
Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the
Moon. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibale Tented Camp.
| Day 5: All day search of chimpanzee and 10 other primate including
l' hoestes, red colobus, blues, red tailed and gray-cheeked
mangabey. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only
on primates, but on all the forest fauna and flora and will ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk
is excellent for viewing bird life and seeing primates at close
quarters. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibale Tented Camp. |

Day 6: Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the
mystical Ruwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey. A
game drive en route may be rewarded with views of lion,
elephant, leopard, buffalo, hyena and a variety of antelope
species. Enjoy the unique 2 hour boat cruise on the Kazinga
Channel and into lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly
the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen
drinking at the water's edge. This launch cruise offers an
excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game
viewing. The prolific bird life is colourful and stupendous with
well over 550 resident species. Dinner and overnight stay at
Mweya Safari Lodge, a 5 star lodge beautifully situated on a
bluff overlooking the Kazinga Channel .
Day 7: Two game drives today.
Queen Elizabeth National Park 's
diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers,
swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible
abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the
massive Rwenzoris as a backdrop provides excellent opportunities
to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, cape buffalo, elephants,
defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. These two
game drives and the boat trip (taken prior) are a memorable
method of discovering a vast array of Ugandan wildlife. Dinner
and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park's diverse Eco-system of grassy
plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic
craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. An early
morning walk in the spectacular Kyambura Gorge provides
excellent opportunities to see chimpanzees, l'hoestes,
red colobus, black and white colobus and more. After a picnic
lunch, return to the Mweya Area for another exciting and
scintillating game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya
Safari Lodge.
Day 9: Drive through the "Switzerland of Africa" area
known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and
winding roads to Bwindi. Dinner and overnight stay at Volcano
Tented Camp.
Day 10: Early morning entry into Gorilla sanctuary. This rainforest
is spectacular. It offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape
and is incredibly dense, but criss-crossed by numerous animal
trails allowing access to tourists. Mammals recorded include the
endangered mountain gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo,
elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest
log and others. This park is best known for the fascinating
gorillas. The time taken and the terrain varies according to the
movements of this marvelous primates. The thrill of spending
time and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and
exciting adventure. The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and
it is unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as
they interact. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Homestead.
Day 11: After breakfast, you will proceed on a forest walk to see
more of what Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is all about. It is the
richest East African forest in bio diversity. Almost without
comparison! You will see the picturesque triple waterfalls, lots
and lots of birds, butterflies and beautiful trees. Look over
the panoramas of Congo and down south to Rwanda. Late afternoon
transfer to Kihihi. Dinner and overnight stay at Savannah Resort
Hotel.
Day 12: Early morning transfer to Ishasha Area of Queen Elizabeth
National Park. Ishasha is home to the famous tree-climbing lions
and the large herds of game. The scenic beauty, the size of the
euphorbias and combination of riverine forest, Savannah plain
and equatorial forest makes this a memorable day, only found in
Africa. Dinner and overnight stay at Savannah Resort Hotel.
Day 13: Drive through the "Switzerland of Africa" area
known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and
winding roads to Bwindi. Dinner and overnight stay at Volcano
Tented Camp.
Day 14 and 15: More Gorilla tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla
National Park and Parc du Vulcans in Rwanda. Two amazing chances
to see the fascinating, but seriously endangered gorillas.
Dinner and overnight stay at Travellers Rest Camp.
Day 16 and 17: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. This mountain tarn is surrounded
by terraced hills. The setting is truly beautiful. Enjoy
Bilharzia- free swimming, dug out canoeing, sunbathing,
hilly walks or mountain bike riding and cray fishing. Dinner and
overnight stay at the Swedish run Far Out Island Camp.
Day 18: After an early breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo
National Park. Enter the Park through the Nshara Gate. Afternoon
game drive along the Lakeshore track. With its own system of
game trails and cleared walkways the "Kigambara Loop"
offers interesting guided lakeside walks. Find here herds of
zebra, Cape buffalo and eland. Oribi and topi are easily
approached. Along with a game drive, many visitors enjoy a boat
trip on Lake Mburo. Self-guided nature trails are also
available. Birdwatchers, will enjoy the more than 250 species of
birds found in Lake Mburo including Papyrus Gonolek, Brown faced
Lapwing. Carruther's Cisticola, the extraordinary White winged
Warbler and Bare-Faced-Go-Away bird. Return to Lake Mburo Tented
Camp for candlelit dinners and first class service, all under
canvas in the heart of the African Bush under the starry African
sky.
Day 19: After breakfast, proceed for a game drive or a safari walk
under the escort of an armed ranger. The Kopjes are particularly
interesting and camouflage kilpspringers and topis. Due to
cattle herding in the area it is amusing to see zebra grazing
alongside the long horned Ankore Cattle peaceably. Return for
lunch which should be taken leisurely enjoying the view of the
lakes in this park. Enjoy the boat ride on Lake Mburo and get
quite close to crocs and hippos. This is the only park where you
are not entirely imprisoned in a vehicle. Rather refreshing!
Dinner and overnight stay at lake Mburo Tented Camp.
Day 20: After breakfast, off you go for one more game drive. After
lunch, drive back to Kampala stopping at the Mpigi Royal Drum
Makers en route where you will able to watch the ceremonial
drums being crafted using methods passed down through
generations. There will also be time to stop at the equator for
photographs. Overnight stay at a hotel of your choice.
Day 21: Your day of leisure enjoy personalized options. You could go
for a tour of Kampala City. This vibrant African city has quite
a number of attractions. This trip culminates at the Uganda
Craft Village where you can buy curios, souvenirs and mementos to remind you of your Uganda tour and also as gifts for your
family and friends back home. You could go either white water
rafting, or a tour of Jinja which is home to the source of the
Nile, Bujagali Falls and Samuka Island or take an boat ride to
Ngamba Island to see chimpanzees that have been rescued from
unscrupulous wildlife dealers and from urban captivity.
